A 150-inch screen’s listed size is the diagonal, not the width; the 16:9 picture measures about 130.7 by 73.5 inches.
For the full breakdown, see our best 150 Inch Projector Screen guide.
One wrong assumption sends people home with a screen two feet too wide for their wall: they read “150 inch” as the width of the image. You’ll usually see 150 inch projector screen dimensions stated as a single number, and that number is the diagonal — corner to opposite corner. On the most common 16:9 format, a 150-inch screen shows a picture roughly 130.7 inches wide by 73.5 inches tall.
What Do 150-Inch Dimensions Actually Tell You?
The diagonal number is useful for judging projector throw distance, but it hides the wall-space math. A 150-inch 16:9 image works out to about 11 feet wide and 6.1 feet tall, or roughly 67 square feet of picture. That’s the viewable area, and it’s always smaller than the product’s full footprint. If a listing only gives you the diagonal, the 16:9 conversion is simple: multiply the diagonal by about 0.87 for the width and 0.49 for the height, which is where the 130.7 by 73.5-inch figures come from.
Manufacturers list viewing dimensions separately from overall dimensions because frames, bezels, and black borders add inches on every side. Silver Ticket’s STR-169150 spec sheet lists the viewable area at 130.75 by 73.5 inches, while the full fixed-frame unit measures 135.5 by 78.25 inches with a 2.375-inch frame. The company’s S7-169150-WVS trims the bezel to 0.28 inch, so its overall size stays much closer to the image: 131.38 by 74.13 inches.
Viewable Area vs. Overall Size: Two Sets Of Numbers
Before you measure a wall or order a mount, check both sets of numbers. The table below shows how the same 150-inch diagonal produces different real-world sizes.
| Screen Type | Viewable Area (W×H) | Full Frame Size (W×H) |
|---|---|---|
| Silver Ticket STR-169150 fixed frame | 130.75″ × 73.5″ | 135.5″ × 78.25″ |
| Silver Ticket S7-169150-WVS fixed frame | 130.75″ × 73.5″ | 131.38″ × 74.13″ |
| Generic 16:9 fixed frame | 130.7″ × 73.6″ | 136.2″ × 79.1″ |
| 16:9 motorized screen | 130.7″ × 73.6″ | 142.6″ × 84.
