One 60 amp job gets 6 AWG copper. The next needs 4 AWG. The difference is a temperature rating printed on the disconnect’s label, and it decides whether a feeder passes inspection or gets flagged.

Rather than trust a generic chart, match the wire size for a 60 amp disconnect to the terminal rating on the unit, the cable you’re pulling, and the run length.
