Measure length by the shade area you want, width between the side mounting points, and height from the mounting point to your headroom.
For the full breakdown, see our best Boat Bimini Top guide.
Boat length is the worst number to shop by when you’re buying a new Bimini top. The canopy is sized from the frame’s mounting points, so knowing how to measure a boat for a Bimini top comes down to three numbers: the coverage length you want, the width between the mounting points, and the height up to your headroom.
Take them in that order. Choose the area you want shaded and find its center — that’s where the frame mounts and what the canopy length covers. Then measure straight across between the two side mounting points for width, and straight up from the mounting point to your desired clearance for height.
