Existing BBCOR-compliant bats stay legal through the transition. That’s the part most buyers miss: if you own a BBCOR bat today, it doesn’t become a paperweight. The current stamp remains valid while the new USA BBCOR mark rolls out.
The shared spec limits carry over too. USA Baseball requires USA BBCOR bats to meet a wood-like performance limit, a barrel diameter no greater than 2⅝ inches, a drop weight no greater than -3, and a length of no more than 36 inches. Those numbers match what BBCOR already enforces.

The Mistake That Gets Bats Rejected
The most common error is treating BBCOR and USA BBCOR as different performance standards, which USA Baseball explicitly says they are not. The second is confusing either one with USABat, the youth standard that runs on its own separate program and doesn’t carry the -3 drop or wood-like limit BBCOR imposes.
Then there’s league level. Little League allows USABat or BBCOR in Intermediate (50/70) and Junior League, but Senior League requires BBCOR. Show up to Senior League with a USABat stamp and you’re borrowing a teammate’s bat.
