Mount the camera at the rear center marker light, wire it to 12V power, and pair the monitor — most Furrion installs take about an hour.
A Furrion RV backup camera bolts to the rear marker-light position, draws power from the RV’s 12V circuit, and pairs wirelessly with its own monitor — no phone app is needed for the install. This is how to install a Furrion RV backup camera on a trailer or motorhome, whether your RV has a prewired Furrion prep bracket or not. If you’re still choosing a system, our tested roundup of the best wireless backup camera for RVs covers Furrion and the main alternatives.
These systems run on 12V/24V DC RVs and trailers. Before touching anything, disconnect the 12V/24V power source and remove the ignition key. You’ll need:
- a drill with a 5/8 in (16 mm) bit — only for un-prepped RVs
- four #6 x 3/4 in self-tapping screws
- wire connectors for the 12V hookup
- sealant, in case the mounting surface is uneven
Furrion suggests professional help if you’re not comfortable with vehicle wiring.
Where Should You Mount the Camera?
Use the rear center marker-light position when you can. It sits on the RV’s centerline, swaps in for an original light so you avoid drilling new holes, and gives the camera an unobstructed view behind the rig.
On an RV with a preinstalled Furrion prep bracket, the bracket is the mount: remove the underside cable cover, locate the connector inside, plug the camera in, and fasten it with the four included screws. On an un-prepped RV, Furrion’s manual says to use the gasket as a drilling template, make a 5/8 in (16 mm) center hole, route the camera’s female connector through it, and fix the gasket and bracket with four #6 x 3/4 in self-tapping screws. The surface must be flat and large enough for the bracket; sealant fills any uneven spots. Side cameras use the original side-marker position, placed as far forward as practical and high off the ground. The camera head adjusts 0–50° afterward, so you can dial in the view.
Wiring the Camera to 12V Power
The camera runs from any nearby 12V/24V source, and the wire functions come straight from Furrion’s Vision S installation manual:
