AirPods work with any Bluetooth device, including your Acer laptop running Windows. You just need to put your AirPods in pairing mode and connect them through Windows Bluetooth Settings. Here is how to do it on Windows 10 and 11.
Before You Start
Make sure your AirPods are charged, Bluetooth is enabled on your Acer laptop, and your AirPods are not currently connected to another device like an iPhone.
1) Connect AirPods via Windows Settings
This is the most reliable method and works for first-time pairing.
- Open Settings on your Acer laptop
- Go to Bluetooth & devices (Windows 11) or Devices > Bluetooth & other devices (Windows 10)
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned On
- Click Add device then select Bluetooth
- Open your AirPods case with the AirPods inside
- Press and hold the button on the back of the case until the light flashes white
- Your AirPods will appear in the device list, for example “John’s AirPods”
- Click on them to connect
Once paired, your AirPods will reconnect automatically whenever Bluetooth is on and the case is open near your laptop.
2) Reconnect Quickly via Action Center or Quick Settings
After the first pairing, you can reconnect without going into Settings.
Windows 11
- Click the Wi-Fi/Volume/Battery area in the bottom right corner
- Click the arrow next to the Bluetooth tile
- Select your AirPods from the list
Windows 10
- Click the Action Center icon in the bottom right corner
- Make sure the Bluetooth tile is active
- Right-click Bluetooth and select Show Bluetooth devices
- Click your AirPods to connect
No Sound After Connecting?
If your AirPods are connected but sound still comes from the laptop speakers, you need to set them as the default output device.
- Click the speaker icon in the taskbar
- Click the arrow next to the current audio device name
- Select your AirPods from the list
Troubleshooting
AirPods not showing up: Make sure the case light is flashing white. Close the case, wait 5 seconds, then re-enter pairing mode. Also check your AirPods are not connected to a nearby iPhone.
Connection keeps dropping: Stay within 10 metres of your laptop. Try removing the AirPods in Bluetooth settings and re-pairing them from scratch.
Microphone not working: Go to Sound Settings > Input and select your AirPods as the input device. You may need to switch to the “Hands-Free AG Audio” profile, though this slightly reduces audio quality.
Bluetooth driver issues: Open Device Manager, expand Bluetooth, right-click your adapter, and select Update driver. Or download the latest driver directly from the Acer support website for your specific model.
